The Alliance for Golden Gate Park shall support and promote:
--Implementation of the letter and the spirit of
the Golden Gate Park Master Plan.
--Protection and maintenance of Golden Gate Park for the health and well-being of
the general public.
--Policies within Golden Gate Park that encourage a diverse naturalistic landscape
while also encouraging public recreational activities.
--Recognition of Golden Gate Park as a National Historic Landmark.
--Consolidation of all Golden Gate Park planning under the Recreation and Park Department
with an open public review of all permanent changes within the Park.

The Alliance is made of up of individuals who have come together with the common purpose of protecting Golden Gate Park for future generations. We meet once or twice a month as schedules and issues demand, usually on Wednesday evenings at the Park Police Station at Kezar and Waller. Information on future meetings will be posted here ASAP. All are welcome. If you wish to be added to our e-mail list contact: Chris Duderstadt, Information Director, at cdmd@sfpix.com

| On 8/21, the Alliance voted to define a Pedestrian
Oasis as being free from all vehicular traffic--meaning only park maintenance and
emergency vehicles shall be allowed in the Concourse. With the Academy, the de Young, the Japanese Tea Garden, and the Bandshell with its parade of events, the Concourse generally has the highest concentration of pedestrians in Golden Gate Park. Wouldn't it be wonderful without cars. Click on the image for the current options for surface traffic in the Concourse. |
